Residency Plan
During my stay at the Youkobo Artist Residency I will delve into a visual investigation on building a three dimensional character named Nihon (Japan). Using three different sources of material - found images, archival footage and my own photographs I aim to present the viewer with a set of puzzle pieces to put together themselves and interpret as they please. Wandering fluidly and without direction I will visually respond to feelings and varying stimuli. While recontextualizing pre-existing imagery that has its own visual language and blending it with my own, I will attempt create a third language that will piece together Nihon.
