Maya Lama was born in Japan and largely raised in Nepal. She received a BA from Williams College, Massachusetts. She currently lives and works in Japan. Lama’s acrylic paintings, which reveal the texture and patterns of the mount itself, while layering them with the motifs of a sense of belonging and original memories of places of human inhabitation, spins a new story in the overlaying of landscapes of past memories and scenes of everyday reality. In this exhibition she creates an installation in the gallery space with the series of works painted upon wooden supports.
